& CABIN REDWOOD SIGNS

I have tried to keep it simple here with one price shopping.
Any standard wording you would like $22.95 - $29.95 UP TO 30 INCHES
LONG.
I try not to sand the wood too much as these type of signs are not meant to
be a polished looking sign. I do coat them with a light coat of
external UV protection polyurethane to seal the wood, but they look just as good allowed
to sit outside and weather. After using a router
to cut in the
lettering, I then bevel the outside edge into a free form edging. The
sign is then lightly sanded and a light coat of sealer stain is applied. All signs
are made from clear Redwood. NO two boards alike.

here in the middle of the Redwood forests I often run into piles of burled
old growth redwood. I use these end pieces to make many
things...absolutely beautiful address signs but also work well for many
business type of signs. I leave the edges rough to give them an even
more authentic rustic look. EACH BOARD IS DIFFERENT, NO TWO
ALIKE. THEY VARY IN SIZE BUT ARE AROUND 16 INCHES IN LENGTH AND ONE

- NATURAL FINISH
REDWOOD RUSTIC SIGNS - |
 SOLID
REDWOOD: A variation of our above standard Rustic type signs is using a
different process to achieve quite a different look. I use a
special wood dye that will not ever fade or chip as is the case when
using paints. This give me the ability to add color to the sign.
I stock BLACK, GREEN, and RED as indicated in the example pictures
below.As there are so many options when making these types of natural
finish signs, please call to order. Questions I have are interior
vs. exterior use, color the border, etc.....
CONSTRUCTION: After making the sign, I then apply the
dye to the interior cut outs and the border if desired. Everything
is then highly sanded and a clear interior or exterior finish is applied
to protect the sign. This clear finish brings out the color and
beauty of the natural wood and a nice contrast against the lettering.
As you can see by the example pictures, each board is quite different.
I can produce any type of sign listed in our more standard stained
Rustic signs displayed above......CALL TO ORDER.

- NATURAL FINISH
SOLID KNOTTY CEDAR - |
SOLID WESTERN RED CEDAR: While I primarily us a straight
clear Redwood for producing these types of Rustic or Cabin signs, I also
have available some really beautiful Knotty Cedar. This material
is a full one inch thick. The boards are kiln dried and tight
grade. No two boards are alike.
As with the natural finish
Redwood noted above, I can use either a standard Black, Red, or Green
for the lettering. Yes I can custom make a quite large Cedar
panel for oversize signs.....call.
 CONSTRUCTION:
1 inch thick. After making the sign, I then apply the
dye to the interior cut outs and the border if desired (available in
Black, Red, or Green). Everything
is then highly sanded and a clear interior or exterior finish is applied
to protect the sign. This clear finish brings out the color and
beauty of the natural wood and a nice contrast against the lettering.
As you can see by the example pictures, each board is quite different.

- REDWOOD EXAMPLE PICTURES -
HINTS: - There are a variety of things you can do with these
type of signs. External use signs ship with a clear light coat of External Polyurethane
to protect the wood, however, you can opt to just let them weather. It
sort of depends on the look you are going for. For example, you could just
have it shipped without a protective covering and let it sit outside for a year.
Then spray a coat of polyurethane over it after it grays naturally.
This is one reason I only use stain on the Redwood signs. Some people paint them
BLACK and then sand off the paint only leaving the dark black paint in the
routed letters.....the problem with that process is that sooner or later that
paint is going to start to chip out and they look awful. The stain isn't
going to chip out. If you want to let it get real gnarly out in the
weather just let me know and I will skip sealing the sign.....Tom

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ELECTRIC
DRILL AND START PUTTING IN SCREWS. If you want to use screws you first
have to drill pilot holes slightly larger than the nail or screw you wish to
use. This way the wood will not split and will expand and contract with your
weather conditions over the years. |
